Map: Widow Author: Rob "Zazi" Kermes Website: http://thezazi.net Contact: zazi@thezazi.net Mapname: ns_widow Widow History: Widow originally started on Januray 24th, 2002 as a class project evolved into what is now seen as Widow. Twenty four completely different versions, four hundred and fifty pages of notes, one hundred and twenty eight concept drawings, one massive blueprint, and countless hours of labor is the result of Widow's final version. Taking over a year and a half to develop to a state of publication is a personal relief and accomplishment, marking my first "serious" mapping attempt. Over two hundred textures were created to accommodate Widow's changing themes, however now Widow utilizes fourty custom textures not found in the official Natural-Selection wad file. I can now satisfyingly say that I am happy with my work, despite my constant claim of the opposite. Widow Information: The UES Widow, designation 04102984-z, is an Azules class warship in high orbit of Senti VI. Spanning six decks, "ns_widow" takes place on the uppermost deck, deck six. Each deck has over 700 thousand square feet, excluding ventilation systems, exterior features, and unseen features. Widow is equipped with 27 SAM site launchers, 87 Particle Cannons, and 14 STS launchers for planetary bombardment. It can hold roughly 100 thousand troops in its massive hull, and carries 14 fighters in its fighter bay. Widow was the first Azules class warship ever created, and constructed by the Ambeke Corporation. Some key areas that reside on deck six are Observations, Auxillery Data Control, Engine A Intake, Auxilleray Weapons Control, and Cargo A. ****Credits and thanks**** The Dev team - Without you, there would be no purpose or no drive to design. You have truely inspired me and gave the community an awe inspiring mod. Nelson "Manah" Ferryman - The pure 100% slag who told me what was wrong straight up. My mentor and friend, I can say without a doubt that he is the sole reason why Widow exists. There are no words of mine that can express how much Nelson owns me. Pure 100% slag right here! Tom Nitti - For being my best friend, owning me in my own map, and for telling me how dark Widow was. My Family - They never questioned why I was up until the wee hours of the night, or why I consumed so much caffine in these past months, always retained interest in my work in Widow and gave me architectural criticism on many areas of Widow. Mr. Ben - For saving my ass on countless occassions. If it were not for Ben, I would not have enough leaves or clipnodes to finish Widow. Wvu! Coil - For the constant critiques and criticism of the entire map. Because of Coil, I now have a lot better understanding of color theory and learning that "purple" (although it is REALLY blue!) does not mix with red. =P Mart - Mart is a realist, if there is such a thing. Everything he looked at he asked me, "what is the purpose of this?" Because of this constant questioning, I designed Widow to a point where one could actually construct this ship with complete functionality. Carbon14 - Carbon 14 made some of the awesome textures found in Widow. Without him, I probably would not have established a suitable hive style, and Widow would lose a lot of detail without him. Thank you, C14. Ekaj - Like C14, Ekaj made half of the base textures that defines the style of Widow. I cannot stress that without these textures, Widow would most certainly be dead. Plaguebearer - PB made the other half of the base textures found in Widow. Plaguebearer has always been a friend, and my sucessor to Taldren. There is no doubt in my mind that PB is a genious. Taldren - Although I turned down their generous level design offer, Erik Bethke of Taldren, and the fine developers at Taldren, said nothing but good things about my work, increasing my drive and persuit of perfection that much more. Taldren has given me the thought that what I do shouldn't be kept hidden in a closet. =P #nsmapping - The fine fellows that come and go as they please offer great insights and criticism, even if I don't like it. A great mapping resource, I would not give it, or the people, up for any other mapping channel. Evolutionarily Challenged - These fine folks tested Widow on a moment's notice, and gave loads of criticism. You guys rock! To anyone I missed and the community - You helped me procure my talents and develop Widow countless times. Although Widow SHOULD'VE been out a year ago, I believe that by taking my time, deleting Widow and restarting it resulted in the best version of Widow. *************Current Bugs and pending changes******** -Marine Spawn doors don't function if the round restarts with tournament mode or sv_cheats on.
